Dental Health Checks
Regular dental care is vital to maintain healthy teeth and gums and helps ensure you have a happy, pain-free pet. Dental disease can lead to severe health problems. Besides the obvious effects of bad breath, painful teeth and gums, dental disease can result in infections and life-threatening kidney and heart disease.
Our Qualified Veterinary Nurses offer Dental Checks to talk all things teeth. The 15minute consultation includes a full examination of your pet’s teeth, (providing they cooperate), a dental home care plan, and answer any questions you may have regarding a dental procedure.
Nail Trims
We know that clipping your pet's nails can be a little overwhelming and stressful. Nails left untrimmed can lead to discomfort and other complications. Our Qualified Veterinary Nurses are on hand to professionally trim your pet’s nails in a positive environment. They can also demonstrate the most appropriate way to clip them if you would like to have a try.
Weight Loss Programs
When our pets are overnourished and are carrying a little extra weight, you may not be aware of how much it can affect their health. They lack the ability to exercise and have a tendency to retain weight, putting them at risk of becoming obese. Even being as little as 20% overweight can greatly increase the risk of your pet developing serious health conditions as their body fat increases, so does the risk for:
-
Osteoarthritis
-
Reduced mobility
-
Increased physical injury
-
Kidney disease
-
Respiratory disease
-
Cancer
-
Shortened life expectancy
-
Bladder stones
-
Diabetes mellitus
-
Hepatic lipidosis (cats only)
Great Artesian Veterinary Surgery has tailored the Ultimate Weight Loss Program to ensure your pet reaches their goal weight. One of our Qualified Veterinary Nurses is allocated to your weight loss journey who will assess your pet and tailor a program to suit their needs. We hope that they will think of our pet boarding facility as a home away from home. We will go the extra mile to ensure that all your pet’s needs are met during their stay with us. You can specify their individual needs for services such as, medications, grooming, a bath, or even a medical procedure, and we will make sure it happens. Whether your pet is here for a day of pampering, as an overnight guest, or for a medical procedure, we keep our facility climate controlled to ensure your pet feels relaxed and comfortable
Grooming
Regular grooming is essential to the maintenance of your pet's health. Keep your pet smelling and looking attractive, prevent parasites, and skin irritations. We can assist in recommending the proper tools to use for your pet's coat type. If your pet suffers from allergies, our veterinarian may prescribe regular bathing as part of the treatment routine. Be sure to notify us of any special needs your pet may require such as specific shampoos or eye care and bring any of these products with you to your appointment. Please schedule your pet's appointment in advance, especially during the warmer summer months and near the holiday seasons.
